PhD survey finally ready

It took me a long time to focus on this survey, but now it's finally
ready to be distributed out. I would deeply appreciate if you could
spare a few minutes to answer the questionnaire. Your answers are
valuable to my study and they will be treated confidentially. If you
have any questions, please do not hesitate to post your message to
taiwanese_efl_teachers@yahoogroups.com or send me an email at
aidenyeh@yahoo.com

If you know of any Taiwanese teacher/s who might be interested in
participating in this survey, please direct them to our yahoogroups
at
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/taiwanese_efl_teachers/

Thanks again and I look forward to reading your response.

Cheers,

Aiden Yeh

Fwd: Amanda's blog url address

Amanda,

I believe this topic falls under Psychology. You can work on this topic but you need to focus on a specific population, for example, Taiwanese college students.
You will also have to look at pessimism. How many people [your popoulation] are pessimistic and how many are optimistic? What does the statistic mean?
Will you have plenty of resources [books and articles] aside from those found on the Internet?

Searching for a good research topic

I am sending you a message that my colleague, Prof. Dafne Gonzalez [Venezuela] sent to her MA research students. Perhaps this could help you too. You can post your comments on your blogs.

I am copying a message from an e-list, where a professor from the Open University (UK) gives advice about what topic should a person choose for research, and I thought it might be of your interest:

Hi,
A couple of points that I tell our students here that might be helpful:
1) consider what you have availaable in terms of time and resources; you don't want to try to do something that isn't possible however good an idea' it is;

2) think about your own experiences and working
conditions, are there any issues, problems, opportunites, you could explore there? - projects that grow out of an area you already have 'foundations' in are often easier to write than ones where you are approaching something 100% new.

Good luck

What do you think?

amanda's research topic proposal

Amanda,

With regards to your topic, 'Depression of Working class in taiwan', I really don't know exactly what you want to find out.

Perhaps it would be better if you write some research questions. What do you want to learn more about this topic? What are the things that you want to find out?

Post your answers to your blogs.

I hope this helps.

Dear Ms Yeh,

Thank you for the E-mails telling us how to to our assignment and practices on line.

I sorry that I still don't know how to do it, maybe I didn't spent enough time on that, or maybe I am slow, anyway I got confused.

Therefore, can I tell you my research topic here? And I'll try again to create my own blog later on.

I would like to do the research about the depression of working class in Taiwan, but I don't know how to name the topic, to make it more professional.

Thank you very much for your help, I will ask you or other classmates more about the blog in the calss.

Sincerely yours

Amanda Wu
